WSD recently updated Black Uhuru’s website in preparation for the band’s US Autumn tour. The site features the band’s dates, discography and photo gallery - all easily maintained via WSD’s custom Content Management System (CMS).
Music, freedom, and love
Black Uhuru, a grammy-winning reggae group has been spreading music, freedom, and love since its founding in 1972. The group’s current lineup includes founder and frontman Duckie Simpson, Andrew Bees, and Elsa Green.
Duckie Simpson grew up in Kingston Jamaica’s Waterhouse district in the early 60′s and learned to sing from boyhood friends Winston “Pipe” Matthews and Lloyd “Bread” McDonald of Wailing Souls and Bob Marley. Duckie’s music has inspired the world for over 50 year. In 2022, he won the Marcus Garvey Lifetime Achievement Award.
WSD’s day to day contact is Robert Oyugi of Ujama Design the band’s booking agent. Robert is a mainstay in the Reggae scene and has represented or consulted with multiple bands including The Abyssinians, Bunny Wailer, Half Pint, The Wailing Souls, and Selasee.
